Chatelaine II: Beyond the Castle Walls

The year is 1086. William the Conqueror has just initiated a nationwide survey of all land, landowners and the entire population of England, to ensure all taxes are collected and accounted for. Raoul "The Hawk" is tasked with helping gather the documentation that will one day become the Domesdei Book.

With the children now older, Raoul's wife, Judith-Chatelaine of Oakwood Castle-enjoys an occasional sojourn, visiting properties bestowed upon her husband by a grateful King, always returning to Oakwood where she tends the townsfolk.

Raoul's younger brother, Eustace-his insanity escalating into random and frequent acts of violence-remains imprisoned in Oakwood Castle. Their older brother Olaf-visiting Oakwood to celebrate his niece's marriage-is incensed to find Eustace incarcerated and demands his release, with tragic consequences...

Eustace escapes and begins a killing spree.

Judith's health begins to decline, and, realizing she is dying, she knows she must stay strong to keep the family safe.
