Carla's Heart

Carla's Heart is the story of a very creative rabbit. When she learns she has cancer, she follows her treatment even though it makes her feel even worse and she also begins to paint. Carla paints hearts for her friends and is given a clean bill of health from her doctor. She continues to paint with joy and is determined to paint one million hearts to share with the world.

Inspired by breast-cancer survivor Carla O'Brian's true story and her goal to share one million hearts through her Just Flow Love initiative, this tender tale that was created to offer a fictional representation of the real challenges many children face whose lives are touched by cancer and terminal illnesses. Author Tom Sweitzer is the Co-Founder of A Place To Be, a center for Music Therapy and Expressive Arts as well as an actor and playwright. His experiences and empathy and Penny Hauffe's beautiful illustrations make this book a lovely and unique resource for all children, especially pediatric oncology patients.
