Heroes Need Help

Heroes are more likely to succeed if they have help in fighting their battles. The same is true for children with cancer. They need the support of a community and the help of powerful medications. "Heroes Need Help" describes chemotherapy as a tool, similar to the resources that other heroes use. Firefighters have powerful hoses to put out flames, superheroes use their special powers to fight villains, and athletes have their team working together for the win. Children with cancer use chemotherapy to help stop rapidly dividing cells. Cheering for heroes is a natural response; however, chemo patients often receive apologies and sadness from friends rather than the rallying support they need. When a patient's community comes together as a team, the child benefits receiving much needed encouragement and joy.
