On the Run

Seventeen-year-old Joe Ranly has everything going for him - he is athletic, fun-loving, independent, and well-known as the "greatest quarterback of St. Xavier College" in Cincinnati. When a practical joke goes wrong, however, he is forced to flee from the United States to his uncle in Dublin. Upon his arrival, he discovers that there is much danger and unrest in Ireland, and that everything he thought he knew about the conflict between the Irish and the British is wrong. He learns that his uncle is "on the run", wanted by the Black-and-Tans for having opposed their brutality, and no one knows where he is. Joe quickly finds himself in the midst of the most exciting adventure of his life, fighting for the independence of Catholic Ireland.
