Alternative to the Current System of American Voting and Politics

What if there was a better way to choose our leaders?

In An Alternative to the Current System of American Voting and Politics, Barry Richard Zeeberg takes a fresh look at the way American government works and asks whether the current voting system is still the best option. He presents a bold idea: eliminate the role of money, undue influence, and lust for power by replacing voting with a system that randomly selects from a pool of pre-qualified citizens to serve in public office.

Along with this proposal, Zeeberg explores the history of American government, examines the Constitution and other historic documents, and discusses how money, misinformation, and political division have shaped modern politics. Drawing on history, current events, and personal commentary, he encourages a different way of thinking about democracy and political reform.

Barry Richard Zeeberg is a retired research scientist from the National Cancer Institute, where he specialized in computational biology, genomics, and data analysis. Applying the same analytical approach to public policy, he explores ways to strengthen American democracy.
