This special re-print edition of Cornell University's book "A Second Account of Sweet Peas" is a guide to the Sweet Pea (Lathyrus odoratus) varieties grown Cornell University in New York in the mid 1890's. Written in 1897, this classic text provides insight into numerous varieties of Heirloom Sweet Peas and how they compared to each other in their characteristics. Included are not only all the varieties offered by Seedsmen and American Seed Catalogs during the 1890's, but also new varieties from the expert Sweet Pea breeders and exhibitors of the period. The authors, who were experts in the horticulture field, divided the varieties into four major classes and describe the color and characteristics of each variety that they tested.
