Tricks of Desperation

Let the wicked beware for he is the Scarecrow, master of fear, lord of shadows. John Scarrow is human, a tormented soul, and a trouble-shooter for the American Vampire Council. A serial killer is murdering vampires, leaving a trail of faceless bodies that will never rise again. The Scarecrow is on the hunt. While pursued by Violet, a female vamp obsessed with him, his path crosses with Donovan, a sexy red-headed vampire who drinks holy water instead of blood. This one-of-a-kind, ex-Marine loses her heart to John while searching for a way to reclaim her soul. Together, they face down inner demons, werewolves, cat-people, and other-worldly fey. In the midst of the investigation, John's father is murdered by Violet. Staggered by grief, he fights on to save the city from a vampire war, and from something much worse--a living Darkness older than time.
