And, the same way we cannot not communicate, we cannot not do public speaking. In fact, there is not a single day where you do not practise public speaking. Contexts and audiences may change, still the skills remain the same, and they are simply about speaking in front of people who are not you. When you decide to open this book, you decide to embark on a fascinating journey through vast oceans, building up those skills and the speaking muscles in order to free the speaker in you. Be ready to enjoy each encounter and each conversation, getting to the core of who we are as humans: communicators.Organised into eleven chapters, this book takes you through eleven stages of growth in your public speaking skills. Each chapter is split into seven conversations, and each conversation finishes with a tip and a practise exercise. The chosen learning approach is inductive; from specifics to general. Each conversation focusses on specific elements or skills, which may have been either underused or used with a different focus. And each skill has several layers. Imagine building a spiral: the first skills you build up are at the centre. As you increase your competencies, you widen your spiral around you, expanding your possibilities. And you can stretch it as far as your motivation takes you.Freeing the speaker in you is a whole body and mind practise as well as a fascinating journey through vast oceans.
