Systematic Exploitation of the Verbal Calque in German

The present dissertation, while treating a situation that is obviously the product of a lengthy diachronic development, is nevertheless intended as a primarily synchronic study. After a survey of the entire system of Latin verbs formed with prefixes, it seeks the corresponding formations in the Modern German verb system. After a complete comparison of the two, it aims to draw statistical conclusions as to the extent to which German and Latin match.
