Model for the Flow of Students Through the Swiss University System

On the basis of data collected by a research team at the Preparatory Stage of the University of Educational Sciences at Aarau, Switzerland, a model for the flow of students through the Swiss University System is constructed which allows a concise description of the pertinent movements (changes of university and of subject studied, interruptions, rates of leaving at different levels etc.). The model also serves as a useful tool for prediction of future flows and for simulation of flows under specific assumptions.
