Calatrava

Spanish visionary Santiago Calatrava is renowned around the world as an architect, structural engineer, sculptor, and artist. Famed for bridges as much as buildings, he has made his name with neofuturistic structures that combine deft engineering solutions with dramatic visual impact.

Peter G�ssel runs an agency for museum and exhibition design. He has published TASCHEN monographs on Julius Shulman, R. M. Schindler, John Lautner, and Richard Neutra, as well as several titles in the Basic Architecture series.
Santiago Calatrava (born in 1951) studied art and architecture at the ETSA of Valencia and engineering at the ETH in Z�rich. His best-known works include the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Opera House in his native Valencia, and the Turning Torso in Malm�, Sweden. Calatrava has received the American Institute of Architects (AIA) 2005 Gold Medal. He is based in New York and Z�rich.
