Tourism emerged due to the beauty and attractions found in natural environments, as well as the use of resources present in these environments. As it is an anthropogenic activity, care must be taken when implementing it to minimise the impacts caused by this activity. In the municipality of Apodi, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, there is the Santa Cruz dam, where the occurrence of different environmental impacts resulting from tourist activity is evident. Tourism development, as a multisectoral activity that causes significant environmental, social and economic impacts, requires considerable planning to be successful and sustainable. Against this backdrop, the present study aimed to diagnose the environmental impacts resulting from the development of tourism at the Santa Cruz dam in Apodi/RN.
