Dynamic Analysis of RCC Silos

This book presents a detailed study on the dynamic response of Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) silos subjected to earthquake forces in Seismic Zone V, representing regions with very high seismic risk. The work focuses on analyzing the structural behavior of silos under combined gravity and seismic loads in accordance with relevant Indian Standard codes. Advanced analytical modeling is carried out using structural analysis software to evaluate seismic performance through Equivalent Static Analysis and Response Spectrum Analysis methods. Key parameters such as natural frequency, time period, displacement, base shear, and stress distribution are examined for different operating conditions, including empty and fully loaded cases. The study compares structural responses to identify critical factors influencing stability and safety during earthquakes. Emphasis is placed on practical design considerations and earthquake-resistant strategies for industrial storage structures.
