Women living with HIV are reluctant to go for cervical cancer screening at times. The reasons are diverse and can range from the health providers' perspective to WLHIV themselves. Health Promotion aims at enabling people to increase control over and to improve their health (WHO, 2024). This control over health includes the behavior of seeking health services, including screening tests. Therefore, establishing the reason why there is reluctance from the WLHIV perspective would be crucial to inform program managers. This is why the study has been designed to investigate the attitudes and knowledge of HIV positive women towards cervical cancer screening. This chapter provides a background for the study, its objectives, and its significance.
