Conflicts and Land-Use Management in the Lac de Guiers Region

Lac de Guiers is located in the Senegal River valley between the departments of Saint-Louis and Louga, stretching from the town of Richard Toll to the village of Keur Momar Sarr, respectively. Its geographical position between the "Walo" (a region drained by flowing river waters) and the "Diéri" (a semi-arid environment irrigated by rainwater with very low rainfall), its year-round supply of fresh water, along with its arable and irrigable land, have made this natural environment a vital space for human activities such as agriculture, livestock farming, and fishing.
