Mites of Syria: keys to families, genera and species

Although more than 50.000 described species worldwide, little is known about this mite fauna in Syria. However, considerable progress in the knowledge of these organisms, in particular those of agricultural importance, was observed during the last fifteen years. In fact, 208 species belong to 30 families and three orders (Mesostigmata 56 species, Sarcoptiformes 15 species, and Trombidiformes 137 species) were recorded in several governorates of Syria. The main objective of this work is to construct keys of identification of all species recorded from Syria until now. The originality and simplicity of this work make it with wide appeal to Syrian scientific interest in the taxonomy of mites.
