Simvastatin as an immunomodulatory drug

In this book, I discuss the use of simvastatin (a drug originally developed to lower cholesterol levels) in the context of Chagas' disease (a condition characterised by marked inflammation), as it has demonstrated beneficial anti-inflammatory pleiotropic effects in previous studies. As we shall see throughout this book, Simvastatin has shown great promise in controlling inflammation in vivo triggered by infection with Trypanosoma cruzi.
