The text that forms the basis of this book stems from a concern regarding my teaching practice, which has been shaped by the pursuit of good results and high IDEB scores-a system that currently dictates how teachers should conduct their lessons so that pupils can achieve good grades. Consequently, teachers in basic education tend to carry out their teaching in accordance with the Ministry of Education's (MEC) guidelines. And from this approach, an identity is shaped that is directed towards the professional's actions. However, this identity is shaped by a form of relational power, in which individuals carry out their activities so that their work is valued and recognised, characterising their behaviour as compliant and cooperative in the face of the Prova Brasil scheme.
