Injuries Among Older Adults and the Elderly

The high prevalence of injuries among older adults is a significant public health concern, as people over the age of 60 account for approximately 20% of the population, and 28% of all injury-related deaths occur in this age group. Older adults with injuries typically experience longer hospital stays and higher mortality rates, which can be attributed to their physical condition. Systematic assessment and improvement of the quality and accessibility of medical care will save many lives and prevent disability and long-term negative health consequences. This book addresses issues related to evaluating the effectiveness of trauma care for elderly and senile patients, using the example of the trauma department at a general hospital in a regional center.
