What Does the Future Hold for Wood in High-Rise Construction?

This quote from Arthur Schopenhauer perfectly illustrates the current situation regarding the use of a unique material in construction: wood. Speed and ease of installation, carbon sequestration, high mechanical strength, architectural flexibility, a dry construction process, cleaner job sites, an inexhaustible resource, and the creation of a pool of jobs that cannot be outsourced... Despite all these qualities, wood still faces numerous obstacles. This situation is beginning to change. The recent awareness among public authorities of its many advantages represents a real opportunity. Ambitious wood projects are beginning to emerge in France and across Europe. We have moved beyond the phase where its use in construction was seen as ridiculous. We are currently in a phase where it is considered dangerous, as it is establishing itself as a competitor to concrete. The evidence is fast approaching.
