Occupational Health and Safety of Oil Workers in Niger Delta

This book stems from a place of operational introspection and passion. It brings to bear the chronic health impacts of oil drilling exposure on workers in Nigeria's Niger Delta. Analyzing data from 350 personnel, the research found that 63.4% of workers reported chronic conditions, with skin and respiratory issues being the most prevalent. Key risk factors include exposure frequency, age, and years of experience, while supervisor support and regular medical check-ups were shown to significantly mitigate these risks.This innovative work incorporates a predictive risk model with 77.55% accuracy to forecast the likelihood of health outcomes. Ultimately, these findings emphasize the urgent need for enhanced occupational health surveillance, stricter safety compliance, and targeted mitigation strategies to protect the workforce in this critical economic sector.
