The development of sport is a major challenge for public policy because of its impact on health, social cohesion and regional development. Sports infrastructures play a central role in access to practice, but their construction does not guarantee their sustainable use. This book analyzes the governance of sports infrastructures in Africa using an approach that combines theoretical reflection and empirical studies. It is based on two case studies: the "Sport pour tous, sport de proximité" program in Libreville and the operationalization of category B stadiums in Mali in a context of decentralization. The results show that the effectiveness of infrastructure depends mainly on governance arrangements and coordination between the state, local authorities, sports organizations and local communities. The book thus proposes an African model of territorialized governance, based on a multi-stakeholder approach, to enhance the impact of infrastructures on sport for all and territorial development.
