Floods in Tucumán

This book gathers a series of technical papers on floods in Tucumán and proposes an integrated reading of the problem from a hydrological, hydraulic and territorial perspective. Its central thesis is that floods cannot be seriously explained by a single cause or solved by a single work. Throughout its chapters, the role of levees, changes in land use, urbanization, infrastructure, the occupation of sensitive areas and the exposure of productive sectors are analyzed, showing that water risk is the result of a complex territorial construction. The purpose of the book is to contribute to a more rigorous understanding of the problem and to discuss some simplified explanations that often dominate the public debate.
