The Maranhão nut (Bombacopsis glabra) is an ornamental tree species from the Bombacaceae family, with edible oil seeds (kernels) that are popular in the interior of Maranhão. However, there are no reports in the scientific literature on its centesimal composition, which means that its investigation is both incipient and necessary. An exploratory, experimental and quantitative study was carried out. The analyses were carried out at the Laboratory of Physical-Chemical Analyses of Food and Water at the Federal University of Maranhão in order to fill this gap regarding this oilseed.
