Gender awareness as a requirement for worship services

In a liturgical context, gender awareness is a criterion of quality that is essential for the conduct of a gender-sensitive worship service. In a critical examination of gender issues within academic discourse, the requirements, challenges and criteria for a gender-equitable worship service are highlighted against a theological backdrop. Given the inadequate attention paid to gender issues within the Church, new perspectives and strategies must be developed to address this shortfall.
