This book is a practical guide to the rules and techniques required for the successful study, design and development of fibre-optic network projects. The author focuses on the engineering principles necessary for the successful deployment of all types of FTTx fibre-optic networks. The book contains four sections: in the first section, it describes the characteristics of the components of an optical link; in the second section, the author examines the technical specifications of fibre optic cables, which enables a field study to be carried out to select the best cables; the third section is devoted to design and simulation using Optisystem to assess transmission performance; finally, there is a presentation of a case study and a successful practical implementation.
