Zinc: Chemistry and Analytical Determination in Biological and Environmental Systems brings together the main aspects related to the chemistry, biochemistry, toxicology, environmental behavior, and analytical methodologies applied to the study of Zn(II). Throughout the book, the author discusses zinc's physicochemical properties, essential biological functions, role in metabolic processes and homeostasis mechanisms, as well as the consequences associated with zinc deficiency or excess.The book also analyzes the presence and impact of zinc in environmental systems, including water, soil, and living organisms, along with the main strategies for monitoring and analytical control. It describes both classical and modern instrumental methodologies, with a special emphasis on molecular fluorescence, solid-state fluorescence (SSF), organized systems, surfactants, and green analytical chemistry. It also includes original contributions developed by the UNSL-INQUISAL-CONICET research group aimed at designing sensitive and sustainable luminescent methodologies for the determination of Zn(II).
