Percy Jackson & The Heroes of Olympus in the Light of Ovid's *Metamorphoses*

This work focuses primarily on the popular children's and young adult book series *Percy Jackson* and its sequel *The Heroes of Olympus* by Rick Riordan. However, the main focus is not on their content, but on the extent to which Riordan draws upon Ovid's famous *Metamorphoses*. Following a brief introduction to the world of Percy Jackson, the study gradually examines which mythological demigods the individual protagonists resemble and what parallels exist with ancient myths, before going on to compare the conceptual frameworks of the two works. This is ultimately illustrated using the Arachne episode as an example.
