At the Heart of the Gbanou People of the Central African Republic: Volume 1

This book aims to shed light on the rich history, culture, and identity of the Gbanou people, one of the major components of the Central African Republic's human heritage. Through a rigorous approach deeply rooted in collective memory, it highlights the foundations of a society based on solidarity, respect for elders, community cohesion, and harmony between people, their environment, and the spiritual values inherited from past generations.Volume I, structured into two main parts, each consisting of three chapters, offers an in-depth analysis of the traditional social organization of the Gbanou. It successively explores the family and the upbringing of children, mechanisms of social integration, village and community organization, traditional methods of dispute resolution, as well as the rites associated with life's joyful and sorrowful events. Taken together, these elements highlight a society in which the transmission of values, customary justice, and mutual aid constitute the essential pillars of collective balance and the preservation of cultural identity.
