Regional integration and trade liberalisation in AFRICA

The world is continuing its process of regional economic integration. Like all other countries, Madagascar cannot escape this trend. Madagascar's membership of certain regional economic communities is intended to stimulate economic growth by developing trade within regional markets such as COMESA. However, since joining COMESA, the island nation has not been able to derive much benefit from it, as it has not yet managed to capitalise on these trade opportunities, particularly with countries in Southern and Eastern Africa.
