We have synthesised nine final thiohydantoin compounds, belonging to two families (A and B), using simple and efficient methods. All the compounds were identified by NMR and IR spectroscopy. NMR spectroscopy revealed, with regard to family D, that the derivatives bearing a benzyl group at position 5 and an alkyl group at position 1 (isobutyl, compound D6) adopt a preferred conformation, which renders certain protons of the alkyl group magnetically non-equivalent. The purity of the compounds was verified by CCM and elemental analysis.
