You Are Probably Wrong: The Observation Is Not the Mechanism

What if the things we call opposites aren't opposites at all?

Capitalism and communism. Freedom and control. Progressivism and conservatism. Religion and atheism. Love and hate. Normality and insanity. Good and evil.

A correlation can be completely real while the explanation attached to it is wrong. Two political systems can appear ideologically opposite while depending on remarkably similar underlying human mechanisms.
