Petrit Halilaj: An Opera Out of Time

Halilaj's first opera, made in collaboration with the Kosovo Philharmonic, is an ode to the imaginative pasts and futures of his home country

Berlin-based artist Petrit Halilaj (born 1986) remains deeply connected to Kosovo, his home country, through his sculptures, installations and videos. His debut opera, documented here during its premiere at the Hamburger Bahnhof, is inspired by the ancient site Syrigana.
