Violin Theory Simplified: A Beginner-Friendly Guide to the Language of Violin

Violin Theory Simplified is a clear, step-by-step introduction to how music theory works on the violin. Written for self-taught violinists, beginners, and string players who want to understand the language behind the music, this book shows you how to navigate the fingerboard, understand violin notes across all four strings, and apply theory confidently whether you're playing classical, folk, fiddle, or any other style.

The author, Melvin Tellier, learned music without a formal background. Over time, he realized that understanding theory unlocks creativity and saves years of trial and error. This book is built around that experience, using diagrams, analogies, and cheat sheets to explain complex concepts clearly.

Built specifically for the standard four-string violin tuned in fifths (G, D, A, E), the book covers the music alphabet and note names, intervals and how chords are built, chord progressions and Roman numerals, major and minor scales, the pentatonic and modal scales, rhythm and timing essentials, and the Circle of Fifths with practical applications for violinists.

Each chapter includes a QR code that links to a short video tutorial - no need to search for explanations or sign up for anything extra. Scan with your phone and see every concept applied in real time on the violin.

This is a good fit if you're searching for a violin theory course you can follow at your own pace. Part of a complete series also available for music theory, guitar, bass, and ukulele.
