Written over a period of twenty years, these poems are concerned, in the words of the poet, not with unconscious acquiescence to racist propaganda, but with the propaganda itself. In particular they are engaged with the manifestations of the propaganda and partly, at least in spirit, about the object of this propaganda: Africa. The poems are divided into five parts: polite questions, letters, memoranda, moments, and afrobeat.
