End of LIfe: A comedy of succession, mortality, and graceful degradation.

Pondlife Software has survived its own rot and its own success. Now it has to survive something no company outruns: time. When Julian Marsh-Pemberton, the founder who finally came ashore, collapses at his desk and lives, the whole company glimpses the thing it never planned for. The people who make it trustworthy are irreplaceable, mortal, and going.
The olive farm stops being a joke when Ahmed actually buys in. Magda begins to retire, and the laptop that once caught a ghost needs a new pair of hands. A charismatic heir apparent arrives convinced the company needs a strong leader now the founder is fading, a fresh single point of failure wearing a smile. Bankers pitch an IPO to "de-risk" the founder problem. And Acme, the partner whose renewal keeps the lights on, delivers the cruelest clause of all: prove your culture survives your people, in writing, or lose the deal.
As a well-meaning team ships an AI feature that generates tributes from the footage of the dead, and the man in Dusseldorf who filed forty bug reports a day for a decade reaches his own end of life, the company faces the last version of the question its whole existence has been building toward: can you hand off a soul? Warm, funny, and unashamedly moving, End of Life is a novel about graceful degradation, the art of losing capability without collapsing, and about the difference between a culture that lives in its people and one that was only ever transmitted through them. It is the final Pondlife novel, and the answer, when it comes, is running at four in the morning in a room with no founding face in it.
