What happened to Sweet Marie?

The six-year-old daughter of London's wealthiest family has gone missing after an unusual encounter with a beggar. The police have failed to turn up a single lead. It's like she's vanished into thin air. The distraught parents, Oliver and Olive Throckmorton, are turning to the one man who might be able to find her, the (in)famous Dr. Shitz!

As a master thaumaturgist (or is it thaumaturge?) the doctor has awe-inspiring powers. He can lift objects with his mind, create powerful pyrokinetics, and speak to the dead. It's even rumoured that he summoned the devil at a Halloween party the previous year. But will it be enough to locate one lost little girl? He isn't sure, but he's determined to find out.

To do that, he must convince COGG (the Council of Good Ghosts) to let him bend the laws of time and space and then find a team to build him a spaceship, a seemingly impossible feat for a race that only recently invented the airplane!

The search for Sweet Marie will carry the doctor through strange, alternate dimensions (like the one where pale people wait in silent halls or live in homes shrouded in mists) all the way to the Red Planet itself. There, the doctor's band of oddball characters (an astronomer, an inventor, an engineer, a writer, and...a saint?) face a harsh, unforgiving landscape, alien fauna, and a war between two groups of Martians that may just bring their quest to a violent end.

Dr. Shitz Goes to Mars, the third book in the Dr. Shitz series, is a historical science fiction mystery set in London, Ontario, in the late 1920s. A rousing, spirited adventure filled with paranormal wonder, otherworldly terror, and zany humour.
