Witness Road: An Appalachian Gothic Fantasy Romance

June Mercer knows a bad line when she sees one.

This one is trying to become a road.

Sent into the mountains of East Tennessee to verify a disputed utility corridor, June expects hostile landowners, incomplete county records, and pressure to approve the cheapest route. Instead, she finds three versions of the same boundary.

A modern survey cap that matches the file.

An older stone the ground remembers.

And a fresh stake no one admits placing.

Then a county worker vanishes on the slope and returns soaked from water that does not exist.

Cal Vance, the guarded local foreman assigned to the project, knows why the mountain keeps rejecting the official line. He also knows more than he is willing to tell June. As they follow forgotten plats, witness stones, and a road once used to carry children, mourners, and storm aid across the hollow, professional tension turns into something far more dangerous.

Because the wrong route is not simply a survey error.

Someone wants it opened.

A collector named Rowan Vale understands that if a road is marked, mapped, and repeated often enough, it can become real. And once the county names the hollow as public access, whatever has been waiting beyond Bell Turn will no longer need permission to cross.

To stop him, June must convince a town that memory can outrank paperwork, force the county to admit what its maps erased, and trust a man whose silence may be protecting her or controlling the truth.

Some roads are built.

Some are witnessed.

And some should never be opened at all.

Witness Road is a dark, sensual Appalachian gothic fantasy romance about dangerous boundaries, buried truths, and two people who must decide what they are willing to stand beside when the ground refuses to hold a lie.
