Computer Room Air Handler (CRAH) and Computer Room Air Conditioner (CRAC) units are the workhorses of data center cooling. Whether chilled-water CRAHs served by a central plant or self-contained DX CRACs with integral compressors, these units determine whether IT equipment sees stable inlet temperature and humidity - or whether it doesn't. A poorly specified or poorly commissioned unit can undermine an otherwise well-engineered mechanical system.

This checklist is built for use at three points in a project: design review (does the specification and layout make sense before it is built), factory/field acceptance (does the equipment as delivered match the design intent), and operational readiness (is the unit ready to be trusted with a live load). Each chapter maps to one of nine review domains that recur across nearly every CRAH/CRAC deployment, regardless of manufacturer.
