Chulie the Vampdog: First in the Immortails series

In one night, Chulie goes from being the pampered lapdog of a teenage hot sauce heiress to being a member of the undead-a snarky, bad-ass vampdog. The story follows Chulie's quest to find his owner who disappeared the night he turned vampire. He now wanders with other creatures of the night over the bumpy sidewalks and even bumpier nightlife of the French Quarter. Chulie lives with his found family of misfit vampire musicians. He teams up with a human who writes a saucy blog for vampire enthusiasts and they communicate via mind meld, one of his vampiric skills that lifts his understanding far beyond mortal dogs. The story is told in alternating perspectives between Chulie's first-person (first-dog?) perspective and the blogger's view with excerpts from his blog. Ultimately, they must uncover a dark family secret enmeshed with Chulie's origin story.
