Trail Gone Dark

She came to the mountains to escape death. It followed her anyway.

When K-9 handler Gemma Hartley and her German Shepherd Kira discover a body during a routine search, what looks like a tragic hiking accident reveals a cold-blooded murder. Thru-hiker Alexis Mercer was killed and staged to look like she fell-and Gemma is the only one who noticed.

As Gemma investigates alongside Deputy Marco Reyes, she uncovers a deadly obsession that followed Alexis from Portland to the Colorado backcountry. But nothing in Elk Creek is simple, and the secrets Gemma disturbs go far deeper than one woman's murder. Someone in this small mountain town has been hiding something for 25 years-and they'll kill again to keep it buried.

Perfect for fans of Margaret Mizushima's Timber Creek K-9 series and Paula Munier's Mercy & Elvis books.
