Girl Who Wore Smoke

A vanished singer. A haunted musician. A city that breathes secrets.

When washed-up jazz trumpeter Roland Voss stumbles into a grimy New Orleans nightclub for a last-chance gig, he expects humiliation-not obsession. But the moment Sabine steps into the spotlight, shimmering in emerald silk and singing like a woman with one foot in the grave, Roland feels something awaken in him... something he thought he'd drowned in whiskey years ago.

And then she disappears.

All that remains is a smear of crimson lipstick, a spreading stain on the stage, and a room full of people too terrified to speak the truth. The police call it a bar fight. Roland knows better.

Driven by guilt, longing, and a darkness he can no longer ignore, Roland descends into the French Quarter's underbelly-where performers vanish, corruption festers, and whispers of a figure known only as the Collector coil through the city like smoke. Every clue pulls him deeper into a labyrinth of occult symbols, buried histories, and a conspiracy that has claimed countless women before Sabine.

To save her, Roland must confront not only the city's demons, but his own.

A noir-soaked supernatural thriller, The Girl Who Wore Smoke blends atmospheric mystery, slow-burn dread, and the seductive pulse of New Orleans jazz into a story about obsession, redemption, and the price of chasing ghosts.
