Silent Partner: K-9 Search & Rescue Mysteries, Book 8

Russell Vaughn told his wife he was in Denver on business. His car turned up at a trailhead with keys in the ignition. And Russell Vaughn hasn't been seen in forty-eight hours.

Autumn has settled over Elk Creek in layers, aspen gold and mountain frost, the deep blue of skies that seem to go on forever, the first dusting of snow on the highest peaks. It is Gemma and Marco's first autumn as a married couple. It is also Kate Soren and Scout's first real case.

Russell Vaughn was a respected Elk Creek businessman. He was also, as the investigation quickly reveals, running a very careful double life - one that connected him to debts, to people who had reason to want him quiet, and to a trail that leads far beyond the mountains where his car was found.

As Kate and Scout work their first missing person search and Gemma coordinates from behind them, mentor and trainee are about to discover something that no amount of training can fully prepare a handler for: what it means to find someone who didn't want to be found.

Perfect for fans of Nevada Barr, Kendra Elliot, and Dana Stabenow. The Silent Partner puts Kate and Scout front and center in a case that tests everything they've built.
