Baree, Son of Kazan

A sweeping wilderness adventure of survival and devotion in the frozen Canadian North, from the great outdoor storyteller James Oliver Curwood.

First published in 1917, Baree, Son of Kazan follows a half-wolf, half-dog pup, son of the famed lead dog Kazan, born deep in the northern wild. Orphaned and driven by instinct, Baree battles hunger, predators, and the merciless wilderness until his path crosses that of Nepeese, the spirited daughter of a trapper, whose gentleness begins to tame his wary heart.

A stirring animal story and a classic of action and adventure fiction, Curwood's novel brings the beauty and danger of the Canadian frontier vividly to life, in the tradition of Jack London's The Call of the Wild and White Fang. This edition preserves the six original illustrations by Frank B. Hoffman.

This is a Lantern Library edition from Solocosmo Studios, featuring an original cover painting by Jessica von Braun.
