It is my great honor to continue the legacy of the Honorable Judge Robert L. Miller Jr., Senior Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana. His contributions to evidentiary scholarship-particularly through his authoritative volumes and updated editions through 2013-14-have shaped generations of legal practitioners, scholars, and reformers.
Judge Miller's work was not merely academic; it was principled. His clarity, precision, and unwavering commitment to judicial integrity set a standard that few have matched and many have aspired to. I count myself among them.
This handbook is offered in that spirit-not as a replacement, but as a continuation. It seeks to honor the evidentiary architecture Judge Miller so carefully built, while expanding its reach into the strategic, forensic, and compliance-driven realities of modern litigation. It is written for those who believe that evidence is not just admissible-it must be honorable.
I only hope I can live up to the integrity he provided, and that this work serves as a worthy companion to the legacy he left behind.
