Orchid Moods

For twenty years, Judith Lile-Hynes raised orchids in a small greenhouse. At first a beginner, she soon became moved by their beauty and photographed them frequently. Years later, looking at those photographs again, she saw something she had never noticed before. Some orchids seemed to possess their own mood. Some felt peaceful or joyful. Others mysterious, romantic, or even haunting. And then, familiar fragments of poetry began entering her mind. As she explored her poetry books, Judith discovered an unexpected connection between her orchids and verse-a sense of mood that arose naturally, spontaneously. "Orchid Moods" celebrates this unexpected harmony-the beauty of nature and the power of poetry-the unity of flower and verse.
