Codewords (also called Coded Crosswords or Codebreakers) are laid out on a crossword-style grid, but each letter has been replaced by a number, and your job is to decode the clues to fill in the words. It's a good way to utilize your logic and vocabulary skills as you solve the code. (This is the US English version.)
We have also included some bonus Cryptograms, which are solved in a similar way to codeword puzzles, but the letters have been jumbled up to create a coded message.
All the puzzles have been tested and rated, with the codewords generally progressing from easier to harder, though it is subjective, because it often depends on which word you find first to begin to unlock the puzzle. At first there are three clue letters, moving on to just two, and some puzzles have only one.
We have endeavored to keep exact repeats to an absolute minimum, which is exacting to compile, but that's another word! All letters of the alphabet are used in each of the codeword puzzles, but proper nouns are avoided, as are plurals, except where it is the usual form of the word (e.g. scissors, data).
