According to the so-called "strict reduction" approach in physics, i.e. physicalist reductionism or materialism, human consciousness and thinking can be traced back to purely material causes. For example, to the material level of the brain, its complex neuronal "wiring", or to the complicated biochemical and -electrical processes in our thinking organ. However, this assertion cannot be upheld; recent research has shown that there must be something that goes beyond the purely material. But what? Since quantum physics is the most accurate and comprehensive "theory of matter" to date, there is no way around it when trying to explain "mind" or "consciousness".
