The motivations for writing this book came from various directions and points in my life. During my 27-year corporate career in the restaurant industry and the more than two decades since then, I have met many wonderful people and had some fantastic life experiences. Additionally, I had many interesting experiences throughout my childhood and all the way through college at the University of Kentucky.

Over time, I heard many expressions, colloquialisms, sayings, etc., that resonated with me. The reason they resonate and endure is that they have a no-nonsense way of getting a point across with just a few words-often with humor. They are communication-efficient.
