Nursery of the Gods Volume Two: Earth as a Training System

Consciousness survives the death of the body - that much can
now be asserted with certainty, based on the evidence presented
in Volume One of this book. But if consciousness is independent
of matter, then what is the purpose of physical existence? Why
should consciousness ally itself with physical form at all, if it is basically independent of it? What is our purpose as physical creatures? According to Seth - that nonphysical

is a training system for emerging consciousness. Consciousness
is not static, but grows, evolves, and develops, and the physical
system is one arena of existence in which consciousness can gain
experience in the formation of reality. The human species set out millennia ago to develop a specialized
form of consciousness - an ego-identity - that could perceive
physical reality in a radically new fashion. Human consciousness would
become the thinking portion of the earth, and could begin to
construct, for itself and the other creatures of the earth, a physical reality of the sort that a sane god would create. If this thesis is
correct, it should be possible to trace the emergence of an ego-
identity down through the millennia, following its historical
development as reflected in our changing mythologies, and in
the societies that created them. This volume sets out on a quest
to follow the developing ego through history's pages, and ends
with a revolutionary new understanding of our present culture,
and the reasons behind our erroneous belief that consciousness
